Rlg Nigeria to receive NITDA certification

Rlg Nigeria to Receive NITDA Certification

Rlg Nigeria will this Thursday 6th August, 2015, receive certification from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to produce laptops and other ICT devices locally for government agencies.

This was after the West Africa mobile phone manufacturing giant successfully completed its accreditation process.

This means Rlg Nigeria can now produce laptops and other ICT devices for government agencies. With the NITDA certification, RLG becomes strategic ICT solution partners to the government

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) was established to create a framework for the planning, research, development, standardization, application, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and regulation of Information Technology practices, activities and systems in Nigeria.

Its role is to develop Information technology in the country through regulatory standards, guidelines and policies.

Commenting ahead of the certification this Thursday, the Regional Director of Rlg Communications (B2G West and Central Africa), Tosin Ilesanmi, expressed his excitement about the NITDA certification.

“We started the process of getting certified by NITDA on the 15th of April 2014 and it has taken us this long to get certified as a lot of processes had to be followed,” he noted.

He said a rigorous IT product certification program is a necessity as it would save Nigeria from being a perennial dumping ground for substandard and pirated products.

“It will also imbue confidence into the IT sector and allow for the emergence of a truly regulated sector,” Tosin reiterated.

The NITDA certificate will be presented to Rlg Nigeria by the Director General of NITDA, Peter Jack. The ceremony will take place at Rlg Nigeria’s Head Office in Ikeja, Lagos, at 1pm.

NITDA is the clearing house for all IT projects and infrastructure development in the country.  It is the prime Agency for e-government implementation, Internet governance and General IT development in Nigeria.
